Is there a future of consumer robotics start-ups?

At a recent New England Research and Development (NERD) Center meeting  entrepreneurs and venture capitalists told startups looking to get rich with robots they may have better luck with the military than with consumers. Are UAVs, UGVs and UUVs the only way for robotic start-ups to survive and make money? It is said VC people are conservative and have mixed feelings about robotics technology that is promising a lot but hasn´t delivered yet. VC people are focused on "big" value that can be…See More

More than 20.000+ robotics researchers and developers all over the world are doing their best to find out how to understand human intelligence, how to develop intelligent machines, how to learn from natur, how to invent new robots. This work will continue and accelerate in new robotics research programmes and projects.2010 will be an exciting year for the global robotics community with the launch of brand new products and…See More

Disk Read Error

Today my day started with "A disk read error accured". It had happened before and is not so scaring anymore. Backups in the cloud may save some reconstruction efforts, but it will take time to reinstall and reconfigure programs a.s.o.We have become very vulnarable with all these cheap computers and components. Even robots have disks that can crash and this can have serious consequenses for us users. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. Will it work? Not at my computer just now. By the way, my iRoomba…See More

Robotic Vision

"There is only one condition in which we can imagine managers not needing subordinates, and masters not needing slaves. This would be if every machine could work by itself, at the word of command or by intelligent anticipation."
